Chaka Khan
Chaka Khan, also popularly called the Queen of Funk, is a popular American singer-songwriter. In the course of her nearly fifty years of career, Chaka Khan has been awarded a total 10 Grammys. The Grammy winner was also ranked as the 65th most successful dancing artist in history according to Billboard magazine. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, she was first introduced to jazz by her mother when she was a child. In her early years, she was a member of various groups. Then, she joined a group that was named Rufus. She released her first album in the band around the age of 20. The group won their first Grammy award the following year. In the following year, she made her debut as a solo artist. She the album was self-titled. Through the years, she has released a number of albums, including "Echoes Of An Era," The Woman I Am as well as Funk This. In addition to her musical contribution, her charity work has brought her lots of attention. Chaka Khan Foundation was established in order to aid children from low-income families as well as those who have autism. Khan also works as actress on occasion. She was her sister Carrie, in the musical "Mama I'm Ready to Sing."
